This plan is part of the papers of the Hope Family of Craighall (GD377). It had been loaned by Sir Archibald Hope to the Provost of Musselburgh in January 1970. When the Musselburgh Burgh records were deposited with SRO in 1976 this plan was wrongly assumed to be part of the Burgh records. The Hope Family of Craighall deposited their other papers in SRO in 1980. It was not until 1981, however, that the true provenance of this plan was recognised and it was then associated with the Hope of Craighall papers (GD377). See file T/1139.
