GD25/1/905 Renunciation by Thomas Kennedy of Bargany to Thomas Kennedy of Culean Tutor of Cassillis and Elizabeth Makgill his wife by which for the sum of 2000 merks usual money of this Realm, the said Thomas Kennedy of Bargany resigns, renounces and overgives in the hands of the said Thomas Kennedy of Culean and Elizabeth Makgill his wife, the 3 merk land of Glenalloway and 3 merk land of Auchaltan formerly wadset by them to the said Thomas Kennedy of Bargany for the above mentioned sum of 2000 merks, and the said Thomas Kennedy of Bargany declares the same lawfully redeemed 8 Nov 1583 This record is Open.
GD25/1/997 Contract between John Kennedy of Blairquhan and Margaret Keith his wife, on the one part, and Alexander Kennedy of Balvaird and Isabel Kennedy his wife on the other part (See GD25/1/995) by which for the sum of 1000 merks money of this Realm the said John Kennedy and Margaret Keith his wife, oblige them and their heirs to infeft the said Alexander Kennedy and Isabel Kennedy his wife, in conjunct fee and liferent and the heirs procreate between them whom failling the said the Alexander Kennedy his heirs whatsoever in the 5 merk land of Riddelston lying in the parish of Kirkoswald and Earldom of Carrick - To be holden blanch of the said John Kennedy and his heirs for payment of a penny at the feast of Whitsunday yearly - and also the said John Kennedy assigns the said Alexander and Isabel Kennedys to a Letter of Reversion granted by Janet Chalmer Waterhead to him, by which the said 5 merk land of Riddelston is declared redeemable on payment being made to her in the church of the sum of 1000 merks money aforesaid, with power to the said Alexander and Isabel Kennedys to use the like order of redemption of the said 5 merk land of Riddelston as was competent to him the said John Kennedy and which order of redemption being so used the said Alexander and Isabel Kennedys oblige them to grant a Letter of Reversion to the said John Kennedy and Margaret Keith declaring the same redeemable on payment being made to them the said Alexander and Isabel Kennedys of the sum of 2300 merks money aforesaid, and a Letter of Assedation thereof granted to him the said Alexander Kennedy during all the days of his life, for payment yearly of 29 bolls of victual and 20 merks money aforesaid as then payable by the tenants thereof, and the said Alexander Kennedy obliges him and the tenants of the said 5 merk land of Riddelston, to serve the said John Kennedy and his heirs in time of war conform to use and wont, and the said John Kennedy shall deliver the boat upon the said lands, to the said Alexander Kennedy, to be used by him and his wife, and at their removing therefrom to cause two men value the same and to leave it in good condition 1590-1591 This record is Open.
GD25/1/998 Letter of Reversion by Alexander Kennedy of Balvaird and Isabel Kennedy his wife, to John Kennedy of Blairquhan and Margaret Keith his wife, bearing the said John Kennedy and Margaret Keith having infeft them the said Alexander and Isabel Kennedys, in the 5 merk land of Riddelston lying in the parish of Kirkoswald and Earldom of Carrick - Nevertheless they oblige them and their heirs upon the said John Kennedy and Margaret Keith and their heirs making payment to them in the Church of Mayboll of the sum of 1300 merks money of this Realm, and granting a Letter of Assedation of the said 5 merk land of Riddelston to the said Alexander Kennedy during all the days of his life, for payment yearly of 29 bolls victual, and 20 merks money aforesaid, as then paid by the tenants thereof, that then and immediately thereafter, they shall resign in the hands of the said John Kennedy and Margaret Keith and theirs aforesaid, the said 5 merk land of Riddelston with all right and title which they had thereto and declare the same lawfully redeemed. - declaring nevertheless that the said Letter of Assedation so to be granted to the said Alexander Kennedy shall continue in force during all the days of his life 9 May 1591 This record is Open.
