The first Aberdeen Savings Bank was established in 1815 and was approved under the Savings Bank (Scotland) Act in 1819 . It was wound-up in 1845 and depositors' balances transferred to the newly constituted Aberdeen Savings Bank, certified under the Savings Banks Act, 1835 . In 1862 the Banchory - Devenick Savings Bank closed and its depositors' balances were transferred to the Aberdeen Savings Bank. In 1863 it was certified under the Trustee Savings Bank Act, 1863 . The Aberdeen Savings Investment Trust Ltd was set up in 1901 and liquidated in 1914 , its funds being transferred to the Bank's Special Investment Department which had opened in 1908 . In 1926 the Aberdeen Savings Bank amalgamated with Ellon Savings Bank, Inverurie Savings Bank , Kintore Savings Bank and Stonehaven Savings Bank . The following year the Bank amalgamated with the Forres Savings Bank and the New Deer Savings Bank. In 1928 amalgamation took place with the Thurso Savings Bank and the Wick Savings bank. Amalgamation with the Insch Savings Bank followed in 1929 and with Elgin Savings Bank in 1931 , Grantown-on-Spey Savings Bank in 1934 , Nairn Savings Bank in 1942 , Peterhead Savings Bank in 1956 and Inverness Savings Bank in 1974 . In 1983 the Bank amalgamated with the Trustees Savings Bank of South of Scotland ,Trustees Savings Bank of Tayside and Central Scotland and West of Scotland Trustee Savings Bank to form the Trustee Savings Bank Scotland.
