The Caledonian Club was born out of a merger between the the Caledonian United Service Club, established in Edinburgh in 1825 (which merged with the Northern Club in 1955 under the name Caledonian United Service and Northern Club), and between that club and the Scottish Conservative Club (established in Edinburgh in 1877) in 1969. The Caledonian Club closed in 2002, having suffered a loss of membership and therefore income.
The United Service Club's premises were at Shandwick Place and Queensferry Street, and the Conservative Club's premises were in Princes Street. The Caledonian Club's premises, to which they moved in 1975, were in Abercromby Place. |
