Plan of the island of Inchkeith - showing the sites for proposed batteries purchased by the government in 1859, with the position of the boundary stones to identify the same.' Surveyed by George Fabian, Clerk of Works, Royal Engineers Department, 1863. Copied by J Howard, Lieutenant, Royal Engineers, 1864. [1:2400] 1 inch = 200 feet. 610 x 505 mm. Ink and colourwash on tracing linen. Annotated in ink. Part coloured on reverse. Compass rose. Plan of the island showing battery sites. Location of wells, fort, harbours, and lighthouse shown. High water marks noted. Signed by Mr Howkins CE, agent for his grace the Duke of Buccleuch, and Mr J Sutherland, Sutherland & Son, contractor for District Works Office. |
