Description |
'Plan of the property of Lady Douglas at Dalkeith, with the adjoining property of Mr Mushet' By James Knox, surveyor. [1: 900] 1 inch = 1 chain and 1 inch = 74 feet. 349 x 457 mm. Lithograph. Hand coloured. Plan of Lady Douglas's property at The Vennel, Dalkeith, adjacent to Duke of Buccleuch's coal depot and part of line of Edinburgh and Dalkeith Railway line, produced in causa Mushet v Duke of Buccleuch and others. Note on reverse reads: 'Note by Messrs Gibsons & Fraser 15th Febry 1851. The original of this lithograph was produced by Mr Mushet with his petition to the Sheriff for interdict and is No. 14 of that process. The Sheriff afterwards found it necessary to remit to Mr Gunn, engineer, to make out a plan upon a larger scale. The lithographic plan boxed with reference to the reclaiming note for the defenders is based upon Mr Gunn's plan. A mere copy of that plan would not have been sufficient, because it was prepared only with reference to the interdict process and does not shew the full extent of ground and houses afterwards claimed by Mr Mushet in the declarator.' |
