Description |
No title. Unattributed. No scale. 408 x 311 mm. Ink and colour wash. Linen backing. Plan of basement and ground floors of school. Some measurements given. Rooms named. Note: 'The town and parish of Lauder being in great want of a school, having at present nothing but a vault below their Tolbooth without a fire place, did apply to me for a new school and considering that a proper school is very necessary for that parish. The above plan of which was shewn to me In order to encourage the same I shall give the ground for the area of the schooland also pay my proportion along with the other Heritors, of the expenses of building , providing the other Heritors of the parishare satisfied with the plan and do agree to pay their proportions of the expense. I flatter myself that the Heritors will agree in so useful and necessary a measure for the good of the parish (signed) Lauderdale'. |
