Description |
1. 'Report by William Matheson, land surveyor, of the division of the Commonty of the Island of South Ronaldsay according to instructions by William Erskine Esq[uire] (now Lord Kinneder) Commissioner, under theact and commission in th eprocess of division, at the instance of Robert Heddle Esq[uire] off Melsetter agains Lord Dundas and others.' Report includes background on the survey and recommendations; state of proportions noting towns, heritors names, rents per valuation of teinds and proportion of valuation per report; scheme of division of commonties listing number of allotments, no of valuators report, heritors names, towns, rent per valuation of teinds, valuation per report, quantity in Scots acres, rate per acre and description of boundaries; and appendix.
2. 'First division of the common of Herston.' By William Matheson, surveyor. No scale. 221 x 371 mm. Ink. Compass rose. Waterkmark with crown, horn and 'JA'. Division of commonty plan showing numbered and lettered areas between Mirk-hole, Head of Herston, Herstone and Widewall Bay. Old dyke noted.
