Description |
Plan of the village of Milngavie with sundry adjoining pendicles, the property of James Glassford of Dougalston. By David Smith, surveyor, Glasgow. [1:1344] 1 inch = 1.5 Scots chains. 1490 x 923 mm. Ink and colour wash. Relief in grey wash. Compass rose. Linen backing. Plan of Milngavie and surrounding area belonging to James Glassford of Dougalston showing properties marked a-z, A-Z and numbered; land use such as arable or pasture; bodies of water including Allander Water, reservoir, Dougalston Loch and ponds; quarries, mills, bleaching works, buildings, roads, dams and gardens. The boundaries with surrounding lands are noted viz: Dougalston Pleasure Ground, lands of Kayston and Corbyhill, property of [-] Douglas Esq., of Mains; lands of Clobar, property of James Glassford, Esq. and of Alexander Dunlop, Esq.; lands of Drumclog, property of Duke of Montrose; lands of Brackenhirst, property of James Douglas, Esq.; lands of Barloch, property of John Douglas, Esq.; and Dovecot Park. Noted are Clobar Moor or Milngavie Wood, ground held in long lease by Milngavie Cotton Spinning Company, Clobar Haugh, Milngavie Farm, North Garwhitter, Milngavie Bleachfields, lands of Crossveggate, Milngavie Old Town and the roads from Glasgow to Milngavie, Strathblane, Clobar and Buchlyvie and from Balvie and Milngavie and to Barloch. |
