Description |
'Map of Harris the property of the Right Hon[oura]ble the Earl of Dunmore.' By James Wyld, Geographer to the Queen, surveyor, and engraver, London. [1:63360] 1 inch = 1 statute mile. 835 x 660 mm. Engraving. Hand coloured. Compass rose. Linen backing. Topographical plan of Harris showing oyster beds and salmon fisheries within the bounds of the Earl of Dunmore's property. The property extends from the south of Loch Langavate (Langavat or Langabhat) in the north, east to Scalpay, west to Scarp and Shillay and south to Berneray, Vottersay (Votersay), Tabay (Tahay), Vaccacy (Vaccasay) and Hermetray. Noted are roads, islands, lochs, hills, settlements and submerged rocks. Stamped on reverse with James Wyld's initials and mark. |
