'Plan of new line of road from Piltanton Burn near Lochans mill to the Dusk Road in the farm of Barbower, being intended part of the great line of road from Port Patrick to Ayr'. By Alex paterson [1:7900] 1 in = 1/8 mile 217 x 84 cm Plan of proposed road showing each mile and an alternative route near the beginning. Arable, meadow, moss, plantation, field boundaries, ditches, Piltanton Burn, Water of Luce, Cross Water of Luce, Cross Water of Dusk, streams, lochs including White Loch, Black Loch, Cults Loch and Soulseat Loch, existing roads including the military road from Stranraer, bridges, county boundary with Ayrshire, Castle Kennedy, Sheughan houses, cottages and steadings of Lochans Mill, Little Lochans, Craignary, Boreland, Cults, Balnab, Half Mark, Pinwherrie, Glenterrow, High Auchmantle, Inchbread, Little Larg, Barlure, Craigbirnock, Dirniemow, Glenwhilly, Tannyhaugh, Marklach, Glenkitten, Markdow, Miltonise. Kilgrossan, Cairnlea, Daltangan, barbower and Ballochmorrie noted. Longitudinal section showing numbers also noted on plan, distances, inclinations and bridges required. Relief by brush wash and hachures. Adjacent proprietors noted including Earl of Stair, Mr Snodgrass Buchanan, Mr McMicking, Mr Maitland and Mr Ponton. Note concerning merits of alternative routes at beginning of road. Part of Colmonell parish, Ayrshire, included. |
