'A plan of the Barony of Craigoch comprehending the farms of Knock, Maize, Glaik, Portslogan, Upper Glenstockadale, Nether Glenstockadale, Challoch, Dinduff, Barbeth, Balwherrie, Wierston and Milton of Craigoch ... the property of the Rt Hon the Earl of Stair'. By John Gillone [1:5400] 1 in = 6 Scottish chains 92 x 204 cm Plan, RHP4608/1 coloured to show the plans above mentioned. Fields and unenclosed areas numbered to correspond with table of contents which gives 'Description of Soil' only. Steadings, subsets, cottages, kirk and manse of Leswalt, smith's house, Soleburn Mill, mosses, bogs, meadow, stone and earth dykes, ditches, streams, springs including a mineral spring, old and new bridges at Soleburn, enclosed and open roads and coastline noted. Relief by hachures/brush strokes. Note on lack of safe harbour for vessels inwest opposed to safe harbourage in east. Adjacent lands and proprietors named including Sir Stair Agnew of Lochnaw, Sir John Hunter Blair of Dunskey and Earl of Galloway. Separate table of contents giving land use - arable, meadow, pasture, moor, moss and pasture, and green pasture - RHP4608/2. |
