'Sketch of an intended road between Stranraer and Cairn Ryan'. By Colin Christison [1:3600] 1 in = 300 ft 66 x 50 cm Sketch of two alternative routes of proposed road each of which is either numbered or lettered to correspond with respective tables of rise and fall. Burgh of Stranraer, Rephad toll houses, Sand Mill Farm, Slunk of Aird, Captain Ross's house, cottages, mill dam and race and Loch Ryan noted. Longitudinal sections of each road [vertical scale 1:120] showing numbers or letters noted and amount of banking and cutting required to attain desired road level. Comparisons of length and cubic yardage to be cut or banked made. Coloured. Another plan of road actually built with table of rise and fall, surveyed February 1836 - RHP4518/2 |
