Description |
'Plan of the Lower Division of the Firth or River Tay and part of the North Sea', By James Jardine. Lithographed by Forrester & Morison, Edinburgh. [1:47,500] 1 in = 6 furlongs 473 x 597 mm, on sheet 493 x 623 mm. Lithograph. Hand coloured. Linen backing. Plan of the lower Firth of Tay with soundings across the firth at 3 places. Towns of Dundee, Broughty Ferry (East and West Ferry), Monifieth, Carnoustie, Newport-on-Tay, Tayport (Ferry-Port-on-Craig), St Andrews and Boarhills, a few small hamlets, high and low lights (lighthouses), sands, stake nets, line passing through end of Abertay sands marked with two stones on Fife and Angus coastlines, rivers and road noted. Coloured. Relief by hachures. Estates bordering the Tay and their proprietors named including William Dalgliesh, Lord Douglas, Mrs Guthrie, Colonel Hunter, Mr Kerry, Mr Kinloch and William Maule, Endorsed 'Edinburgh 6th january 1823. This is the plan referred to in my Report of this date. James Jardine.' Part of Forgan and Leuchars parishes, Fife, included. |
