Description |
'A map of the Upper Common of Drysdale', By Charles Mercer, teacher of Mathematics in Dumfries. Scale statement 'A Scale of Chains each four poles' [1:6700] 1 inch = 7.5 [Scottish] chains. 75 x 54 cm. Ink and colour wash. Plan of a scheme of division of Upper Common of Dryfesdale showing sections numbered to correspond with a table of contents (which gives acreages, value per acre and total value) and allotments lettered to correspond with a table giving the lands to which each was awarded. Circumference lettered to correspond with an explanation giving the farms and lands bounding the common. Features include buildings [houses] and compass arrow. Endorsed by Charles Mercer, Archibald Malcolm, clerk, Bryce Blair, and John Goldie when plan submitted in a process of division to the Lords of Council and Session. |
