Description |
'Plan of Inveresk coalfield, the property of the Right Hon the Earl of Wemyss'. By Robert Bald, mining engineer, Edinburgh. No scale [c 1:2700]. 730 x 1250 mm. Ink and colourwash. Linen backing. Compass rose. Mining plan showing surface features, direction of levels and location of bores. Cow Pit, old engine pits on Splint and Five Feet coals, trial pit, Engine pit, Mid-field Engine Pit and smith's house noted. Steadings and enclosures with acreages shown including Midfield, Crookston, Barbachlaw, Eskfield and Mason's Mains. Endorsed ' Edinburgh 6th January 1826,. This is one of three plans referred to in the Lease of minerals granted by the Earl of Wemyss and march to Sir John Hope of Pinkie, Bart. Robert Bald, mining engineer'. |
