Description |
A plan of that part of the Estate of James Earl of Lauderdale laying in the Parish of Lauder and Shire of Berwick taken anno 1756. By Willm Cockburn. [c1:8900] Scale not given. 1440 x 930 mm. Ink and colourwash. Linen backing. Compass rose. Extensive estate plan on vellum of lands east of Leader Water. Coloured to show farm boundaries including Lylestone, Over and Nether Quarters of Newbigging, Wanton Walls, East and West Mains, St Leonards, Thirlestane, Heugh, Blythe, Braidshawrig, Gairmuir and Blythe, Newbigging and Lyleston grazings (Rigs). Land use indicated including arable, moor and wood. Lauder, Thirlestane Castle and policies, glebe and steadings noted. Relief by grey brush wash. Names of adjacent lands and proprietors including Marquis of Tweeddale and Duke of Roxburghe. |
