'Plan of Newton in Berwick Shire belonging to Sir Alexr Don, Bart.' By James Stobie. [1:3200] 1 in = 4 Imperial chains. 915 x 1050 mm. Coloured. Very fine scenes of country life surrounding title (vignette of horses, cattle, sheep and harvesting). Compass indicator. Estate plan of Newton Don House, policy and farms including Newton Mill, Burnroads, Skinlaws and Courthill. Newton (water) Mill, dovecot, steadings, old quarry, timber bridge and wells noted. Stichill (water), waulk and corn mills in Sttichill parish, Roxburghshire included. Names of adjacent proprietors including Duke of Roxburghe and Sir Robert Pringle. List of plans relating to Newton Don estate sent to Mr. [William] Crawford, land surveyor, 23 November 1827 - RHP3600/5. |
