'A Map of Kincardineshire Drawn from a survey taken anno MDCCLXXIV'. By William Gordon. Engraved by Begbie. Multiple scales. 752 x 783 mm. Hand coloured. Engraving. Map of Kincardineshire coloured to show parish boundaries. Parishes and adjoining lands named. Buildings, fields and farms marked and named. Some large houses shown in pictorial elevation. Table of contents giving the number of inhabitants and contents of the different parishes, altitudes of the hills and notes. Small pictorial ships around the coast. Pictorial title with classical figure holding a lathe and the map title on a stone slab. Supplementary north pictorial view of Dunnotar Castle. Inscription: 'To the Right Hon[ourable] Maj[o]r General Lord Adam Gordon Member of Parliament for ther County of Kincardine. This Map if with gratitude & Respect inscribed by his Lordships most obedient servant William Garden'. |
