Description |
'A plan of the Lands and Barony of Carveichen belonging Heritably to George Hay, Esq, of Mountblairy made out from an accurate Survey and Mensuration taken Anno 1766'. By [Peter May]. [1:3150] 1 in = 3.5 Scottish chains. 1412 x 724 mm. Ink and colour wash. Linen backing. Estate plan coloured to show farm boundaries including Over and Nether Corsiestane,Cairnhill, Upper Pirriesmill, Croft of Bogie-side, carvichen, Moss, Thorneybrae, Corseknowes and Pirriesmill. Infield-outfields shown with field-names and acreages. Land use indicated - arable, pasture, meadow, moor and 'improvable ... much cast up for dunghills'. Steadings with occupants' names, watermills, bleach house, lead dam, clay hole and wells noted. Proposed sections for feuing to tradesmen shown along road to Huntly. Very detailed description giving surveyor's proposal for improvements. Table of contents. Illustrated key. names of adjacent lands and proprietors including the Duke of Gordon and Mr Duff of Drummuir. |
