'Plan of Torwood Common'. By Joseph Udney.
[1:1800] 1 in = 2 Scottish chains. 528 x 1074 mm. Ink and colour wash. Dissected into three sheets. Linen backing.
Division of commonty plan showing scheme of division. Roads, hedges, dykes noted. Pictorial elevation of manse. Names of adjacent owners given. Detailed explanation attached. Compas rose. Note: 'Dumfries 24th January 1794 This is the Plan & Survey of Torwood Commission made out by me Surveyor as upon led by the Commissioner for taking the proof of the ... & boundaries of said common, acceptable to the proof ... by the different proprietors of said common and the same is accordingly reported by (signed) Joseph Uny.
