Description |
'Sketch of Craigends Estate relative to excambions'. No surveyor. No scale. 228 x 185 mm. Ink and colour wash. Compass rose. Linen backing. Estate plan showing land between the River Gryffe, and the road from Houston to Linwood, Renfrewshire, the names of proprietors and areas of land in excambion. Some fields are numbered. Noted are the house and trees at Clippings, property of Peter Cochrane Esq., Windyhill belonging to Sir William Napier, Meikle Fulton, Fulton Hill, Locher Wtaer, Craigends and the woods and gardens around it, Middle Main, Nether Craigends, Laigh N.C. or Hillhead, Knows and woodland belonging to Mr Speirs, Auchans or Aikens and Moss. A note reads 'This narrow stripe completed what was thought to have been the five merk land of Nether Craigends amounting to 47½ acres, the remainder of this inclosure 12½ acres was in the 1st excambion thought to be Auchans these made up the 60 acres.' |
