'An Exact Plan of the Town and Citadel of Lille. The Capital of French Flanders, A Barrier Town of the first Line Situated upon the Deulle ThreeLeagues from Menin, five from Ipres and Tournay, Seven from Douay and ten from Arras. Inferiorto no Town in Flanders for Riches. Excelling most in Strength Its fortifications are mostly the product of Marb de Uaubans genious. As there is a Fund of Five Thousand Pounds per annum they are Raising new Works every year' [sic]'. Unattributed. No scale. 598 x 1013 mm. Ink and colour wash. Linen backing. This is damaged top half of a plan. Lower half is missing. Part plan of Lille showing fortifications. Block plans of buildings inside the walls and fields marked and coloured outside the walls. Sections of the fortifications marked with letters and explained in references. Compass rose. Decoration round title with cherub and angel figures holding leaves and a model of a castle. |
