Description |
'A Map of the Baronry of Stobbo in the sherreffdom of Peebles now belonging to Charles Murray Esqr. with the Parks and Improvements made upon it by Sr Alexander Murray of Stanhope. The whole Accuratly surveyed by And: Bearhop.' By Andrew Bearhop, surveyor. [1:15,800] 1 inch = 20 Imperial chains. 480 x 565 mm. Engraving. Linen backing. An engraved estate plan showing the lands of Stobo north of River Tweed. Many features lettered with explanation in table of contents. Sir James Nasmith's house of West Dawyck, Stobe Castle, Easttoun and Westtoun, Dreva Shiel, Tenement, Muirburn, harrow, plantations, roads and drainage canal noted. Other features include compass rose, rivers, quarry, and trees. Names of adjacent lands and owners. Has gridlines. Relief shown pictorially. Has spot heights. Explanation of drainage canal. Published in Sir Alexander's 'The True Interest of Britain considered ..., [1740]. |
