Description |
'A plan of Bannockburn Coalworks from the Water of Bannockburn to Auchenbowie March'. By William Thomson, surveyor. Scale '4 Gunter chains to the Inch' [1:3600] 1 inch = 4 Scottish chains. 76 x 50 cm. Ink and colour wash. Mining plan showing outcrop of coal seams and location of pits including Murrayfield, Bogend, Lawrieshill, Crobie Know, Bairns. Bell's, Muir, Engine and Hall. Levels, Bannockurn House (perspective view), collier town and Back o' Muir noted. Boundaries. Coloured. Detailed references. Note 'The new coall was not discovered till April 1784 therefore could not be noticed on this plan.' |
