Description |
'Plan of Saltcoats. 1841.' By George P Smith, surveyor.
Scale 5 inches = 40 chains (74 feet each). 593 x 670 mm. Ink and colour wash. Annotated in graphite. Linen backing.
Estate plan coloured to show farm and field boundaries. Field names and acreages. Table of contents giving acreages of named and / or numbered fields. Lands of Muirfield. Names of adjacent lands. Common noted. Compass.
Note 1: 'Edinburgh 16 February 1846. This is the Plan of Saltcoats referred to in our Report of this date under a remit from the Court of Session in the Petition of George William Hope Esq.r of Craigiehall & Waughton MP for authority to excamb the Entailed Lands of West Fortune for part of the lands of Saltcoats in the County of Haddington.(signed) Davidson, Rob Barlas.
Note 2: This is the Plan of the Lands and estate of Saltcoats and others referred to in the Contract of Excambion entered into of the date hereof between George William Hope Esquire of Craigiehall and Waughton as heir Entail in possession of, and feudally vested in, the Entailed Lands and Baronies of Waughton and Luffness and in the Room and Lands of West fortune and others and himself the said George William hope, as heritable Proprietor in fee simple of the said Lands and Estate of Saltcoats and others. In witness whereof this docquet written by Donald Macdonald clerk to Messrs. John and James Hope, writers to the signet is subscribed by the said George William Hope at Luffness in the County of Haddington the Thirtyfirst day of August Eighteen hundred and forty six years before these witnesses, George Smith, Butler, and Edward Paine, Footman, both to the said George William Hope.
