Scale 1/8 inch = 1 foot. 400 x 500 mm. Ink and colour wash. Watermark.
Ground plan of east quarter.
Note:. 'Hamilton 14th Janry. 1695. This is the exact coppy of the Draught of the East quarter of the palace of Hamilton; whereupon her grace The dutchess of Hamilton drew an order of the date the 21 Decr. 1694 on Mr James and James Smiths to build the same accordingly, as also to build the scale stair at the end of the wast quarter conforme to this draught. Only her grace is further to consider and advise concerning the faceing up of the north quarter and altering the windows yr in. Because there is a difference thereof in the sd draught and order from this: which her grace will afterwards give directions about as she thinks convenient. (signed) J Smith.' |
