Description |
'Newton, the property of J Ja[me]s Edmondstoune, Esq in 1794.' By G MacEwen, surveyor. Scale [1:8900] 1 inch = 10 Scots chains. 550 x 402 mm. Ink and colour wash. Linen backing. Estate plan coloured to show farm boundaries. Names of adjacent lands and owners. River Teith (Teath). Table of contents for Newton, Newton farm, Wester Row (Wester Rou), Easter Rou, Hillside, Dollhead, Whitehills, Glenhead, Longbank (Langbank), cottage garden, crofts etc, giving acreages and agricultural use of fields. Note: 'This Estate lies in the Shire of Perth seven miles Northwest of Stirling, close by Doune and within a mile of Dunblane. The soil is in general good; and great part of it a superior quality, and the local advantages of it may easily be conceived from its vicinity to the abovementioned Towns, where there is a good market for the produced of the Farms.'
