Description |
'Plan of Kirkland of Crossmichael belonging to Wal[te]r Big[ha]m Lowrie. By James McGuffog, surveyor. Scale 3 inches = 10 miles. 422 x 420 mm on sheet 554 x 560 mm. Ink and colour wash. Linen backing. Estate plan coloured to show field boundaries and water. Field acreages given. Crossmichael manse and farm buildings noted. Names of adjacent lands. Table of contents giving field acreages of arable and wood. Compass rose. Endorsed: 'I the Revd David Welsh, minister of Crossmichael do hereby acknowledge that some time ago I made an access carriage road to the front of the manse of Crossmichael thro' part of the lands of Kirkland held by me in lease under the proprietors of the estate of Redcastle and made some other alterations on the marches of Kirkland conform to survey made by William McKenzie, land measurer, and I declare that the said road & foresaid alterations were granted to me by the said proprietors at my request as a personal accommodation undr the express condition that they and their heirs & successors should be entitled to resume the ground so occupied at any time they mightthink fit without any process at law.
