Description |
'A map of the parish of Crosmichal, copied from the original drawn by Mr McCartney 17th Nov 1776, by John Gillone, Feb 1792.' Copy by John Gillone of original plan by Mr McCartney. Scales in Scots chains and British statute miles. 520 x 720 mm on sheet 534 x 737 mm. Ink and colour wash. Varnished. Linen backing. Framed. Plan of parish coloured to show farm and field boundaries, and plantations. Fields shaded to indicate arable, meadow, mosses and pasture. Roads and rivers. Perspective views of gentlemen's seats and parish churches, including Kelton House, Crossmichael Kirk and glebe, Balmaghie Kirk and farm houses. Ruins of Threave Castle. Names of adjacent parishes. Explanation of colour key to owners and lands etc. Title within oval fillet. Vignette of bridge over river with two men in a boat, one fishing and the other shooting. Endorsed: 'Carmichael Parish.' |
