Description |
The three maps of Scotland from 'Atlantis Pars Altera', the third part of Gerard Mercator's 'Atlas', first published in 1595. There were many editions of the 'Atlas' in Latin, French, Dutch and German up to 1635. These maps have text in French on the reverse. The binders? marks (Dd, Ee, Ff) and text language indicate that they were published either in 1628 or in 1633. Unfortunately, out of context (ie not in a volume), it?s impossible to be certain which of these two French editions they appeared in. |
