Description |
'Plan of the proposed line of road from the Point of Fortrose to the junction with the Beaulie (Beauly) road over Conon Bridge.' By David Wilson, surveyor. [1:35520] 1 inch = 40 Scots chains. 823 x 574 mm. Ink and colour wash. Relief in grey wash. Annotated in pencil. Compass rose. Linen backing. Plan showing the route of a proposed road from Fortrose Point, through Fortrose, over Craigwood Burn, past Avoch House, Rosehaugh, Ord House, Gateside, Munlochy, Fairy Hill, Tore, past march stones and on to the bridge over the River Conon. Points along the route are marked A-F. Noted are fields, buildings, woodland, water courses and Fort George. Annotations show the route of the Kessock Ferry across the Beauly Firth, the roads to Red Castle and to Dingwall, the proposed road to Tore past Ault na Clach, Firr Wood and Allan Grange 'the bending of which is occastioned by the irregularity fo the ground'. A branch road to Munlochy is noted, which passes the Kirk and Manse at Knockbain. Plan attested. |
