Description |
GD220/1: Inventory of the Charters, Writs, Rights and other Evidents belonging to His Grace James Duke of Montrose. This 18th century inventory is currently available only partly within this electronic catalogue, and otherwise fully as a paper catalogue in the Historical Search Room in the National Archives of Scotland. It covers several hundred charters and other documents listed in the early 1700s. Some of these were removed in the 19th century and placed into what became GD220/2 and GD220/4.
GD220/2: The inventory for GD220/2 (Lennox charters and letters) is currently available only as a paper catalogue in the Historical Search room in the National Archives of Scotland. This list was, however, published as a calendar by Sir William Fraser in 'The Lennox', vol. 2, pp. 359-398. The documents in GD220/2 were mainly abstracted from what is now GD220/1.
GD220/3: The inventory for GD220/3 (Papers relating to the First Marquess of Montrose) is available in this electronic catalogue.
GD220/4: The inventory for GD220/4 (Menteith Correspondence) is available only as a paper catalogue in the Historical Search room in the National Archives of Scotland. The list was, however, published as a calendar by Sir William Fraser in the 'Red Book of Menteith', (1880), volume 2, pp. v-xxvii. The documents in GD220/4 were mainly abstracted from what is now GD220/1.

GD220/6: The inventory for GD220/6 (Montrose papers, 1136-1946) is available in this electronic catalogue.
