Instrument bearing that Alan, lord Cathcart, produced before George Campbell of Brintwood, John, Wallace of Meynfurd and John Laing, sheriff-deputes of Air [Ayr], in a sheriff court sitting in the tolbooth of Air a transumpt (dated at Glasgow, 8 July 1540 under the seal of the Official of Glasgow and subscription of sir Thomas Hammiltoun [Hamilton], notary public) of two instruments of sasine dated 18 February 1505 by deceased Mr. Constantine Montgomery, notary public: (1) by Alan Cathcart of Carltoun [Carleton] propriis manibus to John, lord Cathcart, of the 6 merkland of Carltonhill, 40s land of Alhallochapell, 20s land of Dornelle and 20s land of Glaistry; the 40s land of Nether Pinmore and 18 merkland of Killub and Troweire; and the 2 merkland of Innoch, all in the bailiary of Carick [Carrick] and sheriffdom of Air; (2) by the said Alan, the said Lord Cathcart having resigned the subjects to him as superior, to John Cathcart of Drumsmodan [Drumsmudden] as attorney for Alan, master of Cathcart. On which Robert Cathcart of Killunquhan [Killochan] asked instruments. Done in the tolbooth of Air between 1 and 2 p.m. |
