Killearn East began as Killearn Free Church in the Presbytery of Dumbarton. It was formed in 1845 and as well as a church, session house and hall being in Killearn, there was also a church in Balfron. On the union of the Free Church and the United Presbyterian Church in 1900 the congregation became Killearn United Free Church, then, after union with the Church of Scotland in 1929, was known as Killearn East. The two established churches in Killearn, Killearn East and Killearn Parish, united in 1931 to form Killearn. |
