Admin history Newton-on-Ayr New Church, Ayrshire, originated at the Disruption, when the minister of the parish and a large part of his congregation adhered to the Free Church. Their church building was opened in 1843 and replaced in 1862. Until 1854 a mission was carried on at Wallacetown, which then became a separate charge. Newton-on-Ayr transferred to the United Free Church in 1900 and to the Church of Scotland (as Newton-on-Ayr New) in 1929. It was reunited with Newton-on-Ayr in 1962.
