Archival history This volume was included in a deposit of Procurator Fiscal records collected from Highland Archives.

The name of the church inside this volume is given as Halladale Melvich and Portskerray, Parish of Reay. The small communities of Melvich and Portskerray/Portskerra are situated at one end of Strath Halladale and are in very close proximity to one another. There were Free churches in Strathy and Halladale in the Presbytery of Tongue; and Reay in the Presbytery of Caithness. It is uncertain exactly which church this volume belongs to especially as the ministers who are listed as carrying out the baptisms seem to come from several congregations. As the parish is given as Reay at the beginning of the volume, it was decided that it would best be placed in the records of Reay Free Church.
