Admin history The congregation of Strichen Free Church, which sat within the Presbytery of Deer, was established in 1843 at the time of the Disruption, when the minister of Strichen Parish Church, and a number if his congregation, adhered to the Free Church. A church was opened in the following year which was later found to be unstable, and a new church was erected on a more suitable site in 1894. In 1900, upon the union of the Free Church and the United Presbyterians, Strichen Free Church became Strichen United Free Church and in 1929 a link was established with the congregation of New Leeds. Following the 1929 union between the United Free Church and the Church of Scotland, Strichen United Free became Strichen North Church of Scotland and the charge was later joined in 1933 with the congregation of Strichen St Andrew's. The two sessions joined under the name of Strichen and after the union both churches continued in use.
