Admin history Kirkintilloch South Church, Dunbartonshire, originated in 1799, when a Burgher congregation split over the New and Auld Licht controversy. The minority Auld Licht group later joined the United Secession Church in 1842, as Kirkintilloch United Original Secession Church. They remained independent after the union of most of the Original Secession with the Free Church in 1852, but eventually joined the United Free Church in 1902 (as Kirkintilloch South United Free). Their church, in Townhead, was dedicated in 1893. The congregation was terminated by dissolution in 1952. As a Church of Scotland charge it was in the presbytery of Glasgow and the synod of Clydesdale.
