Admin history A station was begun in Cathcart in 1862. A church was erected in 1865 and was sanctioned in the same year. The charge passed to the United Free church following the union of the Free Church and the United Presbyterian Church in 1900, as Battlefield United Free Church. A new church was opened in 1912 and the former Cathcart Free Church building was transformed into a church hall. In 1929 when the United Free Church united with the Established Church, this charge became Battlefield East Church of Scotland. The congregation then united with Langside Hill Church in 1979, the united charge retaining the name of Battlefield East Church of Scotland.
