The Lumloch Colliery was opened by the Carron Company in the early 1880s to mine for ironstone, various problems befell it and it closed in 1908. However the site was bought by James Nimmo & Company in the 1920s and reopened as the Wester Auchengeich Colliery to work for coal. Electrical power was supplied by nearby Auchengeich Colliery. Wester Auchgeich Colliery closed in 1968. |
