Includes a case concerning the use of witchcraft: John Reid, brother to late William, David and Richard Reid, and son to late Christine Mawder and Mr. David McGill of Nisbet, Lord Advocate, v. James Finlaw in Ardo, John Finlaw, his son, Agnes and Elizabeth Finlaw, sisters to said James. The defenders are said to have consulted Tibbie Smart 'ane commoun and notorious witch dwelland in Mikle Conill' to gain revenge for 'the alledgeit strykeing and dinging of ane schipart [shepherd] boy of the said James Finlawis'. 9 May 1586 |
