MS. containing (1) "Note of the charters contain'd in the old Chartulary of Lennox which is in the custody of the burgh of Dumbartan, taken from a copy thereof in the Duke of Montrose charter chist lent me Probably William Colquhoun of Garscadden, son of Andrew C. of Garscadden. The Notes (2) were delivered by Crawford to the latter and were in his custody at his death "and now lying by me". by Orchill September 1754", and (2) "A copy of some Notes taken by the said Mr. Mathew Crawford, historiographer, out of the papers in the charter chest of Luss the said year 1708, written with his oun hand from the originalls in said charter chest". No. (1) deals with all the charters in the Chartulary, many of them being copied in full |
