Title |
I. Bond of Corroboration by John, Earl of Galloway, James Veitch of Elliock, one of the Senators of the College of Justice, and Sir William Maxwell of Springkell, Bart., whereby, in corroboration of (1) Bond for £150 stg., No. GD86/916 and (2) Bond for £100, No. GD86/915, they bind and oblige themselves to pay the sum of £250 Stg. to Mrs. Esther Pearson, relict of Theodore Edgar of Eshieshields, who acquired right to the same by the following writs, viz: (1) Assignation (dated 20 June 1749) by James Currie, surgeon in Biggar, to Mr. William Forrester, then minister at Carstairs (2) Disposition and Settlement (dated 26 August 1777 and registered in the Commissary Court Books of Edinburgh 31 May 1785) by the said Mr. William in favour of Robert Forrester, merchant in Edinburgh his second son, and (3) Conveyance (dated 16 August 1785) by the said Robert Forrester in her favour. At Edinburgh, Galloway House and Springkell 26 August, 8 September and 1 October 1785. Witnesses, John Veitch, writer in Edinburgh, Hugh Corrie, W.S., John Nish, overseer, and James Nish, factor, to the Earl of Galloway in Garliestown, Patrick Maxwell, second son of Sir William Maxwell, and William Renwick, servant to Sir William:
II. Discharge by the said Mrs. Esther Pearson in favour of Mr. David Russell, accountant in Edinburgh, trustee for John Gordon of Kenmure, of the above two bonds with interest etc. due thereon.
