Title |
Instrument of Sasine under the hand of Umfrid Cunyghame, Master of Arts, presbyter of the diocese of Glasgow, notary public, following upon and narrating a precept of sasine under the testimony of the great seal of James V (dated at Edinburgh 26th April 1531) addressed to the steward of Menteith and his deputes for infefting John Lile as heir of John Lile of Ardardane, his grandfather, in the east half of the lands of Garttauartane with pertinents lying within the stewarty of Menteith and sheriffdom of Perth; taking security for £4 of the ferms of said lands, which were in the king's hands from the term of Martinmas immediately following 8th November 1530 without sasine having been taken and that because the said John affirmed that he had not obtained sasine of said lands on another precept issued from chancery on that date although security for the ferms and relief for the terms before that date was entered in the Responde Books kept in Exchequer |
