Title |
Extract from the Sheriff Court Books of Ayrshire of Disposition and Assignation by Ann Chalmers and Elizabeth Chalmers, two of the three sisters german and heirs portioners of the deceased Captain John Chalmers of Gadgirth, with consent of Robert Farquhar of Tounhead of Catrine, husband of the said Ann Chalmers, and of Mr. John Muir, Presbytery Clerk at Ayr, husband of the said Elizabeth Chalmers, whereby, in consideration of the sum of £3,333: 6: 8d Stg. (being 2/3rds of the principal sum of £5000 contained in No. GD86/912) paid to them by John, Earl of Cassilis, they sold and disponed to him an annualrent of £166:13:4d furth of the lands described in No. GD86/912: to which principal sum and annualrent they acquired right by Retour of Special Service dated 12 April 1748 and Nos. GD86/934-5: with procuratory of resignation and precept of sasine. At Ayr 12 May 1752 |

Description |
Witnesses, Thomas Girvan, late provost of Ayr, Alexander Farquhar of Gilmilscroft, James Young, baker in Ayr, and John Muir, writer in Edinburgh. Elizabeth Chalmers subscribed notarially by the hands of James McJerrow, and James Ferguson, notaries public.
Ratification of the above deed by the said Ann and Elizabeth Chalmers, outwith the presence of their husbands and in presence of Andrew Slowan of Skeldon, justice of peace for the shire of Ayr. Their husbands also ratified James Young, baker in Ayr, as attorney for the Earl, asked instruments in the hands of James Ferguson, notary public. At Ayr 12 May 1752. Witnesses, Thomas Girvan, late provost of Ayr, and John Muir, writer, Edinburgh.
