Title |
Decree of Absolvitor in favour of George Stirling of Auchyle in the Petition and Complaint presented to the Lords of Council and Session by Sir George Dunbar of Mochrum, Bart, Mr. James Graham of Airth, Mr. John McLeod of Muiravenside and Mr. Patrick Haldane of Bearcrofts, freeholders of the shire of Stirling, craving that Stirling and 44 others be summoned to exhibit their titles under which they claim right to stand upon the Roll of electors of commissioners for the shire of Stirling. The Lords found Stirling sufficiently qualified to be continued on the Roll and dismissed the complaint against him. In support of his claim Stirling produced his title to the lands of Ballandroch in the parish of Baldernock and to the lands of Balquharrage in the parish of Campsie, and also a certificate (dated 30 September 1740) under the hands of Alexander Monro of Auchinbowie and William Don of Seabeges, two of the commissioners of supply for the shire of Stirling, and Thomas Christy, depute collector of and clerk to the said supply, certifying that, according to the valuation books of the shire, the valued rent of the said lands of Balquharrage was £290:16:- and of the lands of Ballandroch, £180:14: 5 Scots.
