Title |
Instrument of Sasine under the hand of James Bisset, clerk, of the diocese of Dunkeld, notary public, following upon and narrating the precept of sasine in a charter of resignation (dated at Dunkeld 14 October, 1738) granted by James, Duke of Atholl, whereby he granted in feu-farm to Duncan McLaren, portioner of Wester Innernanty, one-half of the town and lands of Wester Innernanty, including the half of Wester Drumlich, being a 2½ merkland, bounded as follows:- "the march of Wester Innernanty betwixt it and Easter Innernanty, the burn of Blair feannack which runs betwixt Easter and Wester Blairfeannack and from thence the march dyke to the top of Craigvreck and from the top of Craigvreck to the top of Stobvreck and from the top of Stobvreck to the top of Stingnaquir, as wind and weather shyres from east to west, is the march of the forsaid towns; as to their graseings the arrable ground and meadow according as they are presently divided with march stones and balks and possest by the tennants of both rooms are to continue; and from the top of Stingnaquir forsaid to the top of Knocknarachour to the top of Craigchaornoch as wind and weather shyres from south to north of the saids hills to both countries is the march betwixt the said Innernanty and the Earle of Perth's lands in Stragartney; and from the said Craigchaornoch to the top of Bonchoun, according as wind and weather shyres on both sides, is the march on that quarter betwixt the said town and Callichra; and from the top of Bonchoun on the southwest side of the burn of Craiggorm and the said burn which falls in very near the south end of the Loch of Lariginlochan is the march in that part betwixt Drumlich being a part of Wester Innernanty and Callichra; and the burn on the west side of the said loch just opposit to the burn of Craiggorm is the march from the loch to the top of the hill where there is a march cairn straight up from the head of the burn to the top of the hill and from the said march cairn pointing northward to the very top of the hill till Stobinday as wind and weather shyres is the march betwixt Drumlich and the Duke of Montrose's interest; and from the top of Stobinday the march burn which runs down the face of the said hill straight by the Clachvallach to the water is the march betwixt the sheall of Drumlich and the shealls of Wester Innernanty and then the main water till ye come to the head dyke divides the grass of Drumlich from the nighbouring graseings; and as for the meadow and arrable ground according as they are presently divided and possest on both sides of the water betwixt and the tennants of Wester Drumlich is the just and true march of the said town and lands", all lying in the parish of Ballquiddar, regality of Atholl and shire of Perth; under reservation of the mines and minerals: which lands were resigned into the hands of the Duke by John McLaren, portioner of Wester Innernanty, in favour of the said Duncan McLaren, conform to procuratory of resignation contained in disposition dated 14 May 1736 and instrument of resignation under the hand of Thomas Bissat, notary public: to be held of the Duke in feu-farm for a yearly payment of £82:13: 4 Scots and for performance of the other prestations contained in the original writs. Description |
Witnesses to the charter, Mr. Alexander Murray, the Duke's factor, and Thomas Bissat, commissary of Dunkeld. Witnesses to the sasine, John McLaren and Malcolm McLaren, both in Innernanty. The charter was written by James Bissat, son of the said Thomas Bissat.
