Title |
I. Brieve from the Chancery of King James I. directed to the sheriff and his bailies of Aberdeen commanding them to hold an inquest for ascertaining what lands and annualrents within their jurisdiction Stephen Clerk, father of John de Jonstone, was vest and seised in at the time of his death, and if the said John was his nearest and lawful heir. At Perth 20th March a.r. 19 [1424-25].
II. Retour of Inquest made at Aberdene on 17th April 1425 in presence of Sir Andrew Stewart, sheriff depute (vicecomitis locum tenenti), finding that John de Jonstoun was lawful heir to Stephen Clerk, his father, in the lands of Kynbroun (N.E. 4 merks, O.E. £5) with pertinents lying in the barony of [Rothy]norman, and in the superiority of the two parts of the lands of Badyncas (worth 6 merks yearly) in the sheriffdom of Aberdene, which were held of the lord of Rothynorman by ward and relief |
