Title |
Instrument of Sasine under the hand of John Craig, clerk, of the diocese of St. Andrews, notary public, following upon and narrating the precept of sasine in a contract of marriage (dated 28th May 1689) between John Frew, smith in St. Andrews, and the deceased Andrew Rawett, smith in St. Foord, for himself and on behalf of Grissall Rawett, his only lawful daughter, whereby the said John Frew bound and obliged himself to infeft the said Grissall in liferent in his 2 acres and 2 roods of land with the pertinents lying amongst the remanent acres of the Priory of St. Andrews in the regality thereof and sheriffdom of Fyffe and within the territory called Garroflate, between the acres sometime pertaining to Mr. George Martine and now to John Johnstoune, baxter, on the east, the acres of [ ] on the west, the acres of the heirs of James Murray and Alexander Russell, thereafter of Mr. John Dalgleish and the heirs of Thomas Martine and John Adie and now of [ ] on the south, and the burn of Balgove on the north. Sasine given, on 24th December 1720, by Alexander Symsone of Pincartoune, bailie in that part, to the said Grissall Rawett personally present and accepting |

Witnesses to the contract of marriage, John Carstairs, litster in St. Andrews, Andrew Gullane, maltman there, Andrew Gullane, his son, John Smith, merchant burgess of St. Andrews, and William Mories, saddler there. Witnesses to the sasine, Robert Carstairs, skipper in St. Andrews, Colin Craig, stationer there, William Aiken, shoemaker there, and David Durrie, maltman there. James Carstairs and Mr. Robert Bruce, notaries public, subscribe the marriage contract for Andrew Rawett, who cannot write. |
